For the second year the West Valley Trail Alliance will be working to get kids out on bicycles. On April 7th at the White Tank Regional Park competitive loop trailhead we will be hosting Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day. All skill levels are welcome, just bring a bicycle and join the fun.
Our focus will be on safety and fun. We will have helmets available to donate to any kids that may need one. Courtesy of Phoenix Children’s Hospital and a grant to the West Valley Trail Alliance from the Peoria Diamond Club we will have over 40 high quality helmets available. Also some snacks and goodies. Just in case your bicycle is quite ready for an off road experience we will have a mechanic on hand to help get your kiddo’s bicycle up to speed, maybe even work on an adult bike or two so they can join the fun as well.
We would love to see any parents that haven’t ventured off road to bring their bicycle along too. Mountain biking is a family fun event and getting the crew on the trail is half the fun.
The ride will be on a short 1 mile loop in the White Tank Competitive track parking lot. There is a marked beginner trail in the south east corner where we will set up. Portable restrooms are on site just in case. We will teach safety skills such as safety equipment, safe stopping, balance, trail etiquette and personal preparedness. All riders will be lead by volunteers around the loop.
